Masoner Family Photographers wanted a site to:
- Showcase their work on a variety of devices
- Allow clients to contact or book a shoot with them
- Allow for plenty of expansion
- Run a photography blog
- Sell prints online
- Be easy to update and manage
They needed a portfolio site that would allow them to showcase each unique photography specialization.
During the research process we found that photography sites often make the mistake of choosing design elements that impair the ability of visitors to engage with the photography.
The most common obstacles found were:
- The design competes with the photography
- The navigation makes it almost impossible to actually find and view the photography
- The pages themselves loaded at a snails pace
- The design presented so many photo options to view,, it hindered the ability to actually distinguish a photo you would like to view
With these and other lessons in mind, we went with a roomy design that showcases each photography specialization.
Each specialization comes with a gallery page. The site is setup to allow them to add sub gallery pages as the need arises. The galleries are entirely managed by MFP.
The thoughtfulness and depth of their approach is exemplified in their gallery layout. On site load, the gallery is immediately visible. Visitors are able to quickly engage with the images currently showcased.
Sharing functionality allows visitors to share any of the gallery photos to a variety of social media. Each addition to the galleries is auto added to their facebook page. This timesaving practice allows them to keep on top of showcasing and promoting their work.
Below the gallery, Masoner Family Photographers writes about the specialization. This depth allows interested potential clients to get a deeper sense of the personality, care and thoughtfulness of their potential photographer.
New to managing any kind of website, social media and blogging, they needed a site that would allow them to auto post to their social media accounts so that they could focus the bulk of their time on their incoming clients. They wanted to manage a small blog with a high ceiling to expand.
Masoner Family Photographers wanted a site that had a shop that would allow their visitors to get a print of any of their photos. They needed an interface that would allow them to simply add any of their photos to their shop upon request. The bulk of their business is devoted to their photo shoot clients but they wanted to accommodate the clients who wanted various prints.
